Vendor Seek - 2007/01/03 00:50 I just found this website - vendorseek.com - that offers free price quotes for a variety of things, including search engine optimisation and website design. Has anyone used this site before? Is it reliable information?

Re:Vendor Seek - 2007/01/03 02:20 There's lots of freelancers out there nowadays...start going on a few forums and look in the Buy/Sell forums. You'll get to know the prices and how much people charge in no time.

Sorry for not answering your question directly but I think that getting straight into contact with designers is easier, from the things they are already selling.

Re:Vendor Seek - 2007/01/03 02:20 I havn't come across that particular website, but many like it. As a general rule I would not use them unless you can find some reviews or something on a reputable site to say that they provide a good service. There are good services to improve your SEO, but if they are good, they are probably expensive.

I would never pay someone else to do it. Why, when I can do it myself and probably taylor it better to my site? Submit to directories, meta tags, SEO URL's, comlpliant code, all the usual methods.

Thanks, lapsaJ and pixelpruner.

Do you know any reputable sites that do provide good reviews? I'm debating whether or not I should pay someone to do things, do them myself, or both. My dilemma is that I want to do this but don't have much free time (at least not consistently).

Re:Vendor Seek - 2007/01/04 17:37 What exactly do you need doing? There's a lot of cheap freelancers - I'd recommend going down that route.

Re:Vendor Seek - 2007/01/05 02:22 Yer, to be honest you will much often get a better job done, or at least cheaper, by getting a freelancer to do it. There are loads of teenagers on the internet who will do anything for $5

I know someone with an ecommerce site who used one of those companies for it, he paid a fortune, and because there was no back-linking etc, the limited improvement they made went away soon after he stopped paying them!

Like lapsaJ says, it depends on what exactly you want.
